Doss supports the Statewide Public Advisory Council (SPAC) for Michigan's Areas of Concern (AOC) program, the Lake Michigan Monitoring Coordinating Council, and efforts related to developing a comprehensive management plan for Lake St. Clair.

Prior to joining the Commission, Doss worked for a member of Congress in Washington, D.C., and for a private environmental planning consulting firm in San Francisco. He has bachelors' degrees in political science and history from Kalamazoo College.
