Ted Lawrence served as the 2004-2005 Great Lakes Commission-Sea Grant Fellow. Ted contributed additional support to the Great Lakes Panel on Aquatic Nuisance Species.

Lawrence finished his Masters in Resource Policy from the School of Natural Resources and Environment at the University of Michigan.

In 1997, Ted graduated with a combined BA in Geology and Environmental Studies from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA. He then worked with the Forest Service and Colorado State University on pine tree disease research; assisted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with communications on Long Island, NY, and was an agro-forestry extension agent in Senegal, West Africa for two-and-a-half years with the Peace Corps.

Ted does extensive backcountry camping, mountain and road biking, and downhill skiing.
