Environmental Challenges of the 21st Century: Great Lakes Experiences and Global Applications
A Great Lakes Commission and International Lakes Environment Committee Special Joint Symposium
June 24, 2003 - 8:00am - 5:00pm
Schmitt Academic Center, Room 154
DePaul University, Chicago, Ill.
Symposium Agenda
It has been 17 years since the last World Conference
on Large Lakes was held in the Great Lakes basin. The return of the
conference to the region provides an opportunity to examine progress
that has been made with regard to toxics, and to highlight resource
management experiences regarding aquatic invasive species (AIS) and
water quantity issues with global applications.
The symposium format will be a series of keynote speakers, individual
presentations, panels and facilitated discussions. It includes a mix
of researchers, managers and policymakers. There will be no symposium
activities during 1:00-2:00 p.m., to accommodate those who wish to
attend the IAGLR-ILEC Plenary Speaker session at 1:00 pm on June 24.
Funding for the symposium has been provided through the Office of
the Great Lakes, Michigan Dept. of Environmental Quality.
