Brownfields Redevelopment and Greenfields Protection for Sustainable
Development (2001) was prepared as part of a collaborative
project called Bridges that involved more than two years of research
on behalf of Great Lakes Commission staff
in partnership with the National
Wildlife Federation-Great Lakes Natural Resource Center and
the Council of Great Lakes Industries.
Strategic actions presented in the report aim to promote sustainable
development through urban revitalization and the preservation of
the rural areas and open spaces. An Executive
Summary is also available.
Impacts of Changing Land Use in the Great Lakes Basin State of the Lakes Ecosystem Conference, 1996 A paper developed by the Great Lakes Commission, USEPA and Environment Canada discussing trends in land use, case studies of best practices and land use planning across the border. Land Use Policy Roundtable Series Great Lakes Commission Commission staff work with key stakeholders in each state to design and conduct a land use policy roundtable aimed at promoting linkages between brownfields redevelopment and greenfields protection. Each roundtable is crafted to meet individual state needs by building on past accomplishments as well as current initiatives within the state.
