Policy Positions

Policy positions summarize the Great Lakes Commission's point of view on a given topic or issue, established through formal actions such as adoption of resolutions, communications to the U.S. Congress and other formal joint action of the Commission membership. Policy positions serve as a reference source for Commission members and other stakeholders to learn about the Commission's past and present positions on issues of regional importance.

The Commission's policy positions are organized into five topical areas. Within each topical area, policy positions that have received formal action within the past 5 years, either through passage of a resolution, advocacy as part of the Commission's annual legislative priorities, or other formal action, are listed first. Policy positions that have received no formal action within the past 5 years follow and are denoted as "Inactive".

Topical Areas:

Water Resource Management

Ecosystem Management

Maritime & Transportation

Sustainability & Economic Development
