Inland Sensitivity Atlas
Maps and Data
The figure above displays the Great Lakes Commission's Mapping Areas
in U.S. EPA Region 5.
The Great Lakes Commission partners with U.S. EPA Region 5 to assist with the
production of spill response planning materials for the Inland
Spill Response Mapping Project. The project has developed a detailed Inland
Sensitivity Atlas for the states within EPA Region 5's jurisdiction, as well
as support materials for the development of an Area Contingency Plan, Sub-area
Contingency Plans within Region 5 and the Joint Inland Contingency Plan involving
both the U.S. and Canada. The Inland Sensitivity Atlas, originally published
as individual volumes for multiple mapping areas within each state, are now
undergoing statewide updates of data and feature information.
Inland Sensitivity Atlas map products are produced in several formats, including
digital data suitable for use in geographic information systems, digital
atlases in .pdf format, and a paper version of the digital atlases. All products
are developed from GIS
data documenting sensitive resources, potential spill sources, and response
considerations.
